Athletics

  • ❄️JV Athlete, Nordic Ski Team | Eden Prairie High School, MN | 9, 10, 11

    • Train & race in extreme weather conditions, mastering techniques for snow conditions & terrain. Contributed to a strong team culture and learned grit.

    • Participated in practices, races, fundraising, and supporting teammates.

    • Learned how to work hard towards a goal by training.

    • Learned what supporting teammates and building a positive training environment means.

    • Worked intensely w/ others to perfect technique and coordination. Rowed in 4- & 8-person shells. Trained indoors: ergs & strength training.

    • Rowed outdoors on the lake in 4- and 8-person shells at practices and regattas.

    • Ran Singing Valentines fundraiser (11,12) w/ 210 performances and Showcase Concert(11,12). Elected to Choir Council(10,12). Exemplary Choir Member(10).

  • 🇪🇸Spanish Immersion

    • Attended a Spanish Immersion elementary school, where teachers spoke to us in Spanish constantly. This required me to learn from context and become comfortable with not fully understanding things at first. I learned elementary math, early science concepts, and history all in Spanish.

    • We also learned about the cultures of various Spanish-speaking countries. We had interns from those countries teach along with our main teachers and they were able to give us a more authentic understanding of people with backgrounds different from our own.

    • As an aspiring physician, I plan to use my Spanish to work with Spanish-speaking patients.

Work

    • Trained to work in many areas of the store to welcome guests, stock products, and help guests find what they need.

Volunteering

  • 🌲Spirit in the Pines Camp Counselor | Hackensack, MN | 10, 11, 12

    • Completed extensive training. Take care of children ensuring needs are met and they feel cared for, managing interpersonal relationships between kids.

    • Attended monthly Counselor trainings during the school year and in the summer responsible for a cabin of approximately 8 children all day and night for a week at a time.

  • ✝️Sunday School Teacher | St Andrew Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie, MN | 11, 12

    • Lead Pre-K & Kinder classes w/ co-teachers. Help kids interact positively & build relationships. Practiced solving interpersonal issues between kids.

    • Lead the Preschool and Kindergarten classroom on Sunday mornings along with a co-teachers.

    • S.A.H.L.T is the abbreviation for St. Andrew High School Leadership Team! We are a group teens who want to help connect the community around us and all generations.

    • We plan monthly events or service projects and podcast at least once a month where we talk about anything from navigating our faith in high school to daily life.

    • Designed/completed a study on how music impacts students’ concentration. Worked w/a mentor who researches speech-language pathology at UMinnesota.

    • Participated in a two-week research program and completed an independent research project with mentors and fellow scholars in the area of social media and adolescent health.
